Welcome to Theatre Arts! By using theatre as our guide we will discover how far our mind can take us through our imagination. It is our desire that students will find this class a way to escape into a world of exploration each day, and discover how theatre is used in our everyday lives. We will be conducting the following units of study in this course:
* Voice Improvement and Oral Interpretation * Technical Theatre * Actor's Technique and Creative Dramatics * Acting Skills (duet, solo, small group) * Puppetry * Fine Arts Studies (integration of Fine Arts as applied to Theatre)
In order to be successful in this class students must bring the following supplies everyday: 1. Agenda (record important performance dates; restroom, library, and locker pass) 2. Production Folder (handouts, pencil, notebook paper, rubrics, scripts) 3. Costumes and Props (as needed for various assignments)
Grading guidelines for Theatre Arts are as follows: 1. Participation/Daily Work - 25% 2. Performance/Tests - 75% 3. Neat, complete work is to be turned in on time. Late work will not be accepted. 4.
In the event of an absence, it is the responsibility of the student to make up missed assignments. Students will receive two days to complete and turn in make-up work. If a performance is missed make-up performances will be held the day after the student returns.
I encourage you to keep the lines of communication open. There are various ways for us to communicate this year. The agenda is a great way for you to keep track of any upcoming performances/projects. Please refer to the Home Page for conference periods. Conferences are scheduled through e-mailing me. E-mail is another great way to discuss with me any questions or concerns.
This is going to be a wonderful year!
Sincerely, Taralea Buentello |
