(Ask the category if you are not sure.)
·       One participation point is available each six weeks for having no unexcused tardies.

Class Expectations
1.      Arrive on time.  Students are considered “tardy” if they are not in the room when the bell rings or
if they are not in their seat when the teacher takes roll.
2.      Follow the Keys of Excellence and the school’s Code of Conduct.
3.      Students that copy or allow others to copy their work will receive zeroes on their assignment.
4.      Inappropriate behavior will be subject to the Formal Warning- Call Home- Consequence  procedure.
Students that have gone through these three steps will receive an  N conduct for the six weeks.   in
If this occurs a second time during the same six weeks, a U in conduct will result.
5.      Please raise your hand and wait to be acknowledged before speaking or getting out of your seat.
6.      Follow directions and safety procedures at all times.
7.      Do not handle equipment or other items unless directed to do so.
8.      Clean your work area thoroughly before leaving.
9.      You should expect to be treated with respect, and you are expected to treat all others with respect.

Assignments
1.      Always copy your assignmentsin your agenda.  Be sure to put the date it is due.
Then write it again on the actual due date.  It is often necessary to make changes to the webpage schedule.
2.      File all papers in the science section of your notebook, with the most recent at the front.
You will be notified at the end of the six weeks which papers may be removed.  Since there is a first semester final,
these should be removed at home and saved for test preparation.  Papers that are to remain in your notebook all year
will be designated with a red dot in the upper right hand corner, and they can be filed together at the very back.
3.      Students needing extra time to complete a classroom activity will need a teacher’s
signature before taking the work home for completion.  It will then be due at the
beginning of the next class day.  It is the student’s responsibility to remember to
turn it in.  This is considered a privilege only if the student has been trying
diligently to complete the assignment in the time given.
4..   No late grades will be given for daily assignments.  Test-valued assignments will have a 25 point penalty
with a final due date.  After that time the grade will become a zero.  All assignments are due at the start of the period on the due date.
5.      Students with school-related or scheduled absences are expected to get assignments ahead of time and complete the work on time
or at a time designated by the teacher.  This includes taking tests even if this type of absence occurs the day before the test
and they may have missed the review.  Students that miss science but attend school that day are expected to get their assignments
and be prepared for class the next day.
6.      Makeup tests must be taken before the next scheduled test, unless there has been an extended absence
7.      Students can earn a 5 point bonus on their tests if they hand in  a minimum of 25 flashcards on the day they take their test.
8.      Lunch bunch will be available most days at the start of sixth period (eighth grade lunch).
9.      The complete textbook is online at:  http://www.mhln.com

10.     If you miss a class, you should first call a reliable friend in the same class.  If unable to get the information,
check the teacher’s webpage (although this sometimes changes).  If you miss 3 days, call the attendance office
and request your work from all your teachers.
