Mail order is quick and often cheaper than local. They carry everything from music, instruments, strings, rock stops, rosin, polish, tuners, music stands.....! Great for gift-giving ideas!
3. Practice Tips
Why practice? To get better at a particular skill! Whether it's basketball, piano, gymnastics, math or reading, hard work always pays off! The quickest way to fall behind is to stop practicing. Sometimes this happens due to an illness. Don't let your child get discouraged! A few sessions before school (Woodridge) or after school (Cambridge) with the Strings teacher is usually all they need to get caught up!
Every child has talent! The difference is not who is more talented, but who practices what they are taught! The more time they put in, the better they will be, the better they will sound and the more quickly they will make progress. The opposite is also true........
Kids/musicians go through typical ups and downs. Some days we can't get them to stop practicing and other days, we can't get them to pick the instrument up! This is NORMAL!! Don't punish, support! Punishment will create resentment toward the instrument and the class. Help them take small steps, like 3 minutes per session. Bribery is also very useful at this age! Promise them an extra play date with a friend or a trip to the movies!
4. Music Around Town!
We will try to keep this section up to date when it comes to local concerts around town! Live performances are the best for motivating and inspiring students of all ages! Please visit "My links" to find contact information on various performing groups in San Antonio. Each student will receive extra credit when they turn in a program!

This section will include information on all NON-required string events, such as competitions, contests, fundraisers and field trips!
